In May I will have graduated from college 3 years ago. It seems like it went pretty quick. The closer the time gets to May 2008, the more I realize that I’m no longer an entry-level journalist.
I’m a woman with a career. A woman with quite possibly the world at her fingertips. I just have to do something with that power. I realize that is the hardest part – actively making a decision to change something.
This morning, I feel more liberated than I have in a really long time. I paid my LAST student loan payment. 27 months worth of payments. And now, I’m done.
Since I finished my undergraduate degree I told myself that I would not consider grad school until every last penny I borrowed from the government was paid back. And today, it is. I don’t know if that means I will start looking into graduate schools instantly, but I know that I can now. I don’t know if it means I start looking for a better paying job because truly I have rid myself of that entry-level status, but I could. I could and can do a lot of things.
It’s just a good feeling. To be done with those 27 months.

Congrats on paying off your student loan! I hope I feel the same sense of accomplishment you do when I make that last payment in another 4 and a half years.

Wow, good for you!
I won’t have that feeling til I’m, oh, 42 or something. I had that feeling about my car recently though – it feels good to pay off a loan!!

I was going to say … I’ll join you in feeling that happy about paying off that dang loan in 14 years!
Lucky you!

*Sniff. I’ll be liberated in about 10 years. And in every way that depresses me.

Congratulations!! I think I will be dead by the time I pay off my student loans, I can’t imagine how nice that is to have something paid off. Well done!
